Personal Bachground
I grew up in a food-centric household, who believed in the value of an education. No matter what the circumstances, there was always food on the table and plenty of family to eat it with.
It is perhaps my roots of my heritage that grew my ethic of care for natural resources - in particular food and surface water. By my Russian grandmother's side in her kitchen and garden, and her deep knowledge and techinque working with human and non-human relationships, I learned the true meaning of my middle name I was given, Joy Kcenia - "happiness" and "hospitality." I have become who I am through the entanglment of social and ecological relationships. I have been known to express this in the things I do.
